About Dr. Shiro Iwae PT, DPT

Dr. Shiro Iwae was born and raised in Tokyo and transitioned from acupuncture to physical therapy in the United States. Despite being legally blind and having an incurable disease affecting motor functions, he completed a Bachelor’s program in physical therapy from Florida International University over nine years, receiving scholarships and honors. In 2014, he earned a Doctorate in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine. Dr. Iwae currently resides in Tokyo. His journey exemplifies perseverance and dedication in overcoming significant challenges to achieve academic and professional success.
